Get yr art socks on kids, it’s time for The Cheaper Show! The show is in it’s 10th year and the works they’re putting on display are looking better than ever. 1998 would like to take this opportunity to give props to a fantastic illustrator and our twitter guru Paul Carr who will be one of the 200 artists featured in this prestigious exhibition. Nice one Paul!

We hope that some of you get a chance to make it out. The show will be taking place tomorrow June 25th at Broadway and Kingsway in Vancouver. Below, you can take a look at the artists who will be involved in this year’s program:

Y’wanna know how we know that summer is here? It’s almost time for Music Waste to kick off. That’s right, the best arts/comedy/music festival  of the year is about to take hold of this beautiful city and we were asked to design a poster for one of the many many shows that they have going on. All of the bands on this bill are amazing. To hear some of their music, visit the Facebook page for this event HERE. Take a look at the poster below:

For more information on showtimes and general festival activities, please visit the Music Waste website.

No Fun City is really making it’s rounds. It just finished playing at the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival. It was the winner of BEST DOCUMENTARY at the Victoria Film Festival. Also, the official selection at DOXA, Fozen Film Fest SF, Pop Montreal, CMJ NYC, OLIO Festival, Tucson Music and Film Festival, Bay Street film Festival and many more.

We were lucky enough to get to work on the opening title sequence and the rest of the films titles with the wonderful guys at the Caffeine Collective and Jackrabbit Pictures.

BUT HERE IS THE EXCITING PART: If you haven’t had a chance to catch any of the NO FUN CITY screenings, you will soon be able to watch the film on TV! NFC will make its TV debut on SuperChannel digital channels throughout Canada starting May 3rd to June 3rd.

You can find the show times here:

Great job Melissa and Kate!

Some exciting news! We’ll be working on the graphics and animation for the Food Network Canada show Eat Street, which airs its first season starting April 6th 2011 (get your PVRs ready). Take a look at the preview of the show on the Eat Street website. Looks like it’s going to be fantastic!

We just finished designing this poster for the Olio Festival and Music Waste 2011 SXSW Showcase. As you can see,  we’ve remodeled some classic band t-shirts to represent the bands on the bill. My! Gay! Husband!, No Gold, Babe Rainbow, Bonjay, Basketball, Teen Daze and Poirier will all be in attendance. So if any of you guys out there are planning on hitting up SXSW, you should head down to Soho Lounge on the 19th and check this show out. It’s gonna be cray-z!

1998 Creative teamed up with the Caffeine Collective and Jackrabbit Pictures to create an animated intro for the documentary film No Fun City. “A film about DIY culture, loud music, illegal venues and the war on fun.” This animation was directed and produced by Ken Meyer, Jackrabbit Pictures and the Caffeine Collective. 1998 Creative teamed up with the Caffeine Collective to attack the design of this project.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our launch party back in December. We had a great time and decided to put together a neat little time-lapse of the whole party called “Launch Party: 5 Hours in 16 Seconds”. Enjoy:

Welcome to our home away from home. If you’re looking for our work, please head back over to 1998 Creative and take a look at what we have to offer. Otherwise feel free to mess around on this page, as this page is meant specifically for messing around! We want to use this space as an area mostly for the sharing of ideas, in whatever way shape or form that they come. Feel free to give us feedback. We’d love to hear what you think about what we’re doing. Until then, please enjoy responsibly.

Cheers,

-Justin of 1998 Creative
